Carthage Firefighters Respond to Grass and Brush Fire

fire1A report of a fast-moving grass and brush fire sent Carthage Firefighters out on Thursday morning. The blaze broke out shortly before 11:30 a.m. in a pasture at 442 County Road 408.

Officials say the property owner was burning some hay, when the wind got the fire out of control. The flames eventually spread into some nearby woods.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire with the help of a dozer provided by the property owner.

No injuries were reported. Crews were clear of the scene within about 45 minutes.
