Two people were jailed on Sunday night after leading authorities on a motorcycle pursuit across Panola County.
It started in the city limits of Carthage, when a police officer attempted to pull the motorcycle over for a traffic stop. The chase later resumed in the county and eventually came to an end on County Road 229, off of Highway 79 South.
EMS was dispatched to the scene as a precaution. Officials say a Panola County Sheriff’s deputy did suffer some minor scrapes and cuts to the leg while taking down one of the suspects.
Jail records show the motorcycle operator, Justin Jarrod Booty, 28, of Carthage was arrested and charged with evading arrest/detention with a vehicle. His passenger, Brittany Nichole Wallace, 22, of Henderson was jailed on a charge of evading arrest/detention.
It’s still unclear why the pair fled from authorities.
