Car Accident Claims Life of Local Teen

A recent Carthage High School graduate died following a two-vehicle car wreck that happened around 7:53 Wednesday night, in Hallsville. Austin Gray, a May graduate of Carthage High School, and a former football standout was driving Eastbound on Highway 80, when his vehicle was reportedly t-boned by Michael Brady, 51, of Shreveport, who had allegedly run a red light at the intersection of Branch Street and Highway 80.

Harrison County authorities confirmed Gray was transported to a Longview area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. A passenger in Gray’s vehicle, 19-year-old Kassi Ham of Hallsville was also transported to a Longview hospital with serious injuries. Her current condition is unknown.

Branch was ticketed for running the red light, and further charges could be pending. The wreck is still under investigation by The Hallsville Police Department.

Services for Gray are pending with Hawthorn Funeral Home in Carthage.
