Texaco Country Showdown Prelims Conclude

KGAS hosted the Texaco Country Showdown during Hall Of Fame Weekend this past Saturday. The contest featured local and not-so-local singing talent of all ages vying for the top prize of $1000 and a chance to continue to the next stage which will also be held in Carthage in September. The panel of judges included the wife of Hall of Fame inductee Nat Stuckey as well as other esteemed singers. songwriters and industry professionals. Taylor Heard from Omaha, Texas, who performed an original piece, came away with the first place vote, the prize money and a ticket to the next level that could lead all the way to the National final hosted by Leann Rimes.
