Baker-Koonce Receives New Principal

Carthage ISD announces Kiley Schumacher as Baker-Koonce's new Principal for the 2022-2023 school year.

Mrs. Schumacher has served as Principal at Carthage Primary since 2009.

"I am excited about the opportunity to grow in my career within Carthage ISD," said Schumacher. "As a proud Bulldog myself, I feel very blessed to have the opportunity to serve the students in my hometown and am looking forward to working with the team at Baker-Koonce."

Mrs. Schumacher replaces Ms. Clarinda Collins who served students at Baker-Koonce for the last four years. Ms. Collis recently accepted an opportunity on the administrative team at Carthage High School.

Thursday, May 12, the Panola County Chamber of Commerce held their 76th Annual Membership Banquet.
The Chamber gave their annual awards for Ambassador of the Year, Main Street Award, Chairman of the Board, Employee of the Year, and Citizen of the Year.
Ambassador of the Year: Renee Nolen
Main Street Award: Luke Horton
Chairman of the Board: David Everett
Employee of the Year: William "Bill" Morris
Citizen of the Year: Keri Perot Vance
Entertainment for the evening was the MOTF Jazz Trio and Brad Mezei.

Panola County Sheriff's Department Holds Fallen Peace Officer Memorial

Friday, May 13, the Panola County Sheriff's Department held a memorial in honor of fallen Peace Officers in Texas.

Each Fallen Peace Officer was honored by a current firefighter or Sheriff's Deputy placing a flower on a wreath.

Police Chief Blake Smith gave each name and End Of Watch for each Peace Officer.

Monday, April 11, 2022, Carthage ISD Education Foundation welcomed new Superintendent Jarrod Bitter and family by hosting a reception at the Carthage Performing Arts Center.

Refreshments and fellowship were had by all.

Jarod Bitter comes to Carthage ISD from Tyler where he worked as the assistant superintendent.

Mr. Bitter brings his wife, Marlo, and two daughters, Emily and Allison.
