Christmas Blessings sign up will be in the First United Methodist Church Gym from 9 a.m. - noon on Friday, October 18th. Christmas Blessings provides Christmas gifts for needy Panola County Children. Parents need to bring their ID and identifying paperwork for each child they are signing up. Examples of identifying paperwork are birth certificates, social security cards, shot records, school records and insurance information. Sign up will continue at Mission Carthage in the weeks following October 18th, but space is limited so parents are strongly encouraged to attend this sign up event. We are unable to sign up anyone prior to October 18th.

The Carthage High School Class of '69 will host a 50th reunion October 18-19. Festivities begin Friday the 18th with dinner at 5 p.m. at the Texas Tea Room (old First National Bank, southwest corner of the square). Following the dinner, the group will head over to the football field (at the new high school) to watch our amazing Dawg's homecoming game.

Saturday, the class will meet at their old high school (now the JR. High) at 10:00 am for a meet and greet in the auditorium, followed by class picture at 11 and lunch at noon which will be served until 3:00.

Special rates have been set up with Comfort Inn, 903-693-6700 and Super 8, 903-693-7200. If reserving, just mention that you are with the CHS Class of 69.

Soup Supper

Clayton Community Center Association soup supper will be held on Tuesday, October 29th from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Clayton Community Center. This is dine in or take out. The prices are $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for children 10 and under. The meal includes soup, cornbread, sandwich, dessert and drink.

The First Assembly of God in Christ family cordially invites everyone to their Pastor and Wife's 38th Anniversary service on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. First Assembly of God in Christ is located on County Road 110. Bishop Hubert Owens is the Pastor.

Carthage Main Street Announces Halloween activities downtown

The Esquire Theater downtown Carthage will show the movie "Beetlejuice" on Saturday, October 19. Doors open at 6pm, showtime is 7pm. Adults are $8, children under 12 $6 and under 6 are free.

Carthage Main Street will host a Halloween Costume Contest on Saturday, October 26 at the gazebo in Anderson Park on the square in downtown Carthage. Sign-ups will begin at 10am with the contest starting at 11am. All ages are welcome. Trophies and cash prizes to 1st and 2nd place in each of five categories: Scariest, Funniest, Cutest, Most Original & Judges Choice. Candy and prizes for all participants.

Carthage Main Street and downtown merchants will also once again host Halloween on the Square! There will be candy at participating stores all around the Carthage Square along with special surprises! Join us downtown to see what's in store this year! Thursday, October 31 from 5pm-7pm. Call Cindy Deloney at 903-736-2273 for information on any of these Halloween events.

Trunk or Treat and Fall Festival presented by 5 area churches will be held at Deadwood Methodist Family Life Center in Deadwood, Texas on Saturday, October 19th from 4 to 7 p.m.

Food, fellowship, games, crafts, cake walk, costume contest for all ages. Please be respectful with costumes. This is a church-oriented festival. Hot dogs, chili, Frito pies, nachos, popcorn and fun for everyone. Come and be blessed!

This Friday will be the annual "Shake the Can" fundraiser for Mission Carthage. It is put on by the Panola Ministerial Fellowship and area churches to benefit Mission Carthage in their mission to meet the needs of our community families in Jesus' name. All day Friday you will see volunteers at key intersections around the square and around town wearing orange vests with cans. We ask that you make donations of loose change, bills, or checks (made out to Mission Carthage). As always your generosity is appreciated!

Ebenezer United Methodist Church (located in the Delray Community on CR 227) will host its Annual Soup Supper on Saturday, October 25th starting at 5:30 p.m. All are invited to join in the fun by bringing some soup, a bowl and a spoon. There will be a blowup toy for children to play on.

Open Mic Gospel Praise Signing will be held on Saturday, November 2 beginning at 6 p.m . The location is First Assembly of God at 652 Houston Street in Timpson, Texas.
